Cost For Services:

It has always been hard for me to put a price on the work of helping other women get connected to their own inner knowledge and assisting them in delivery of their child.  To me it has always been spiritual work and it remains very difficult to charge for spiritual work.  When I practiced midwifery in the past, it was a labour of my spirit, a religious journey and an enlightening experience. I learn so much in giving information, giving of my abilities and providing medical knowledge to childbearing women that it has been invaluable to me.

Thus I title this section as: 'The Money Exchange', because it is an exchange of money for services to all my sisters in their time of travaille.  This is the society that we live in.  In an ideal world we would give without ever expecting anything in return, we would always be supplied with everything to survive comfortably and we would honour each other for our individual gifts sharing and trading to makes our lives as happy as possible. But until then the money exchange is necessary.  If you find that the cost of the services are too much for you to afford government supplements will be available soon, payments can be made at each class that you attend spreading it over the duration of your classes. Even then, if you find that it is unfairly expensive, please let us know and we can make compromises.  Education and sharing childbirth knowledge is more important than money * * *



Life Passages Childbirth and Consulting Services:
Doula Services:
          We offer this service to couples that would like a Doula as part of their greatest journey in life

Doula services:                                          $450.00  (somewhat negotiable)

Which covers:
  • Birth plan preparation and information to aid in decision-making.
  • Helps to facilitate communication between mom/partners, and health care provider
  • Prenatal support - 4 visits to your home
  • On-call availability - accessible through Cellular phones.
  • Labour support from beginning to end, at your home or hospital.
  • Postpartum follow up - one visit or more if needed. Meets with the new family a few days after the birth to discuss the birth with them. Telephone consultations if/when needed.
  • A copy of Sandra's book "The Childbirth Manual"
What clients receive:
  • Four private prenatal visits
  • Constant contact and availability of the doula during prenatal time, pre-labour and post-partum.
  • Continuous support throughout labour and at least one postnatal visit, more if needed.
  • Opportunities for group classes or private classes in your home.
  • A copy of 'The Childbirth Manual'

Home Support Services:

  • Helping set up a baby's room
  • Help to prepare your home for a home birth
  • Help with newborn, bathing, dressing, diapering and skin care.
  • Respite for you after birth to care for newborn while you take care of yourself
  • Post partum support, help with housework
  • Breastfeeding advice and support/discussion and questions.
      • Housekeeping referral to community Homemakers or one of our staff     $10.00 per hour
      • Respite for newborn with registered nurse                                                   $30.00 per hour
      • Help with newborn - bathing, etc. with RN                                                    $25.00 per hour
      • Personal post partum counseling and support with RN or doula               $23.00 per hour
Childbirth Education Classes:  Seven week childbirth preparation series.                          $150.00 per couple.

In-Home Private Childbirth Preparation Course:

  • 7 Classes (2 hours)                                                                                       $150.00 per couple
  • You can add more classes if you want to for $30 each
  • You choose the dates for the classes, classes are personalized and informal.
  • Suited to your individual needs, ie: time, previous experience
  • Your input as to what format the course would take, i.e.: academic, freeform, questions and answers.
  • Includes workbook.
Topics may include:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of pregnancy
  • What to expect in labour and birth
  • Holistic therapies, herbs, colour, Bach flowers, etc.

  • Relaxation techniques including natural breathing & massage

  • Information on anesthesia, analgesia, hospital procedures, and medical interventions
  • Postpartum - physical and emotional changes
  • Breastfeeding:  techniques, avoiding common problems
  • The newborn baby
  • Introduction to early parenting
